Heading home from the GTA? Here is what you need to know about the flight, the fare and landing in Delhi, in plain words.
Quick answer: what is the best way to fly Toronto to Delhi?
The easiest way is non-stop. As of September 2026, both Air India and Air Canada fly Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Delhi (DEL) non-stop, in roughly 14 to 16 hours depending on the winds and routing. One-stop routes through Europe or the Gulf take longer but can cost less at busy times. Book two to three months ahead, and earlier for Diwali, Christmas and March break.
Non-stop flights from Toronto to Delhi in 2026
book. The good news is that there are two non-stop airlines to choose from.
Air India flies Toronto–Delhi daily. From 1 August 2026 it dropped the fuel stop in Vienna on the Delhi–Toronto leg, and the route now uses its new Boeing 787-9 with Economy, Premium Economy and Business cabins. Air India says the change cut about three hours from the westbound trip.
Air Canada also flies Toronto–Delhi non-stop. In March 2026 it even added extra flights on the route when other carriers were rerouting around closed airspace.
A quick word of caution. Airspace closures and high fuel prices changed schedules several times this year, for all airlines. Flight times and frequencies can still shift, so always check the latest schedule before you book, or ask us to check for you.
Non-stop or one-stop: which should you choose?
Non-stop is simpler, especially with kids or older parents. But one-stop routes are worth a look when non-stop fares climb. Here is how they compare.
Option | Typical journey | Good for |
Non-stop (Air India, Air Canada) | About 14 to 16 hours | Families, older travellers, anyone who wants the shortest trip and no connection to worry about. |
One stop via Europe | Often 18 to 24 hours or more | Travellers who want a break halfway, or a better fare in peak season. |
One stop via the Gulf | Often 18 to 24 hours or more | Flexible travellers chasing value, and those connecting on to other Indian cities. |
Journey times for one-stop routes depend on the layover. A short connection can make a one-stop trip only a few hours longer than non-stop. A long one can add most of a day.

6 practical tips for your Toronto to Delhi trip
1. Be flexible by a day or two
Midweek departures are often cheaper than Friday or Saturday. Coming home a few days after the rush helps too.
2. Check your baggage allowance on your ticket
Baggage depends on the airline and the fare type, not just the route. Some lower economy fares include one checked bag, others include two. Check before you pack gifts, sweets and clothes for the whole family.
3. Book the whole family on one booking
It keeps everyone together and makes changes much simpler if plans move.
4. Ask for help with older parents
Wheelchair assistance and special meals are easy to request when you book. It is much harder to arrange at the airport.
5. Students and education staff: use MannPass
Verified students and education staff in Canada can get $25 off selected return flights between Canada and India with MannPass. It is free to join, valid for 30 days, renewable, and can’t be combined with other offers.
6. Sort your visa or OCI early
Canadian passport holders need an Indian visa or OCI card. Apply through the official Indian visa website well before you fly.
Arriving at Delhi IGI Airport
Most long-haul international flights into Delhi, including those from Toronto, arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3. After a long flight, a little planning goes a long way.
Allow time for immigration. Late-night arrivals can be busy. Keep your passport, visa or OCI card, and address in India handy.
Plan your ride. Pre-paid taxis, app cabs and the Airport Express metro line all run from the airport. If family is collecting you, share your flight number so they can track delays.
Connecting to another city? Leave a comfortable gap if your onward domestic flight is on a separate ticket. If we book it all together, we will plan the connection with you.
Staying a night first? An airport hotel can make a big difference after 15 hours in the air. See our hotels in India.
