There is no non-stop flight from Pearson to Hyderabad. Here is how the one-stop routes compare, how long they really take, and how to make the trip easy for the whole family.
Quick answer: how do I fly from Toronto to Hyderabad?
There is no non-stop Toronto to Hyderabad flight. You have three good one-stop choices. Fly non-stop to Delhi or Mumbai and connect to a short domestic flight. Fly through a Gulf hub such as Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Or fly through a European hub such as Frankfurt or London. Plan for roughly 19 to 24 hours door to door. Book everything on one ticket so a delay at Pearson does not cost you your connection.
Why there is no non-stop Toronto to Hyderabad flight
Hyderabad is one of the fastest-growing cities in India, and the GTA has one of the largest Telugu communities outside India. So families ask us about this route every week. The short answer is that no airline flies Toronto to Hyderabad without a stop. The non-stop Canada to India flights go to Delhi, and seasonally to Mumbai.
That is not bad news. A one-stop route often means more choice of dates and a better fare. The trick is choosing the stop that suits your family.
Your three route options compared
Here is how the main options look for travellers leaving from Toronto Pearson. Times are rough totals including a typical layover. Your actual schedule will depend on the airline and the day.
Route | Typical total time | Good for | Watch out for |
Via Delhi | About 19 to 22 hours | Families who want the longest leg done in one go. Air Canada and Air India both fly Toronto–Delhi non-stop. | Immigration and possibly a terminal change before the domestic leg. Allow a comfortable gap. |
Via Mumbai | About 19 to 22 hours | Winter travellers. Air India has announced a seasonal non-stop Toronto–Mumbai service for winter 2026–27, a few days a week. | Limited days of the week, and the domestic leg is a short hop of around 90 minutes. |
Via a Gulf hub | About 20 to 24 hours | Travellers who want a single airline all the way. Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad all serve Hyderabad from their home hubs. | Two long flights rather than one long and one short. Layovers can be tight or very long depending on the day. |
Via a European hub | About 19 to 23 hours | Travellers who like a shorter first flight and a daytime stop. Lufthansa flies Frankfurt–Hyderabad and British Airways flies London–Hyderabad. | Check whether you need a transit visa for your passport, and winter weather in Europe can add delays. |
Which one is best? Parents travelling alone often prefer the Gulf route on one airline. Families with young children usually like Delhi or Mumbai, because the second flight is short.
How long does Toronto to Hyderabad really take?
The non-stop Toronto to Delhi flight is roughly 13 to 14 hours. Toronto to Mumbai is a little longer. Add a two to four hour connection and a short domestic flight, and you arrive around 19 to 22 hours after you left Pearson. Gulf routes split the trip into roughly 12 to 13 hours plus 3 to 4 hours. European routes split it into roughly 7 to 8 hours plus 8 to 10 hours. Both land you in Hyderabad around 20 to 24 hours after departure, depending on the layover.
Hyderabad is nine and a half hours ahead of Toronto in October, and ten and a half from November. Plan your first day lightly.
5 tips for GTA families booking Toronto to Hyderabad flights
1. Book it as one ticket
Two separate bookings might look a few dollars cheaper. But if your first flight is late and you miss the second, the airline on the second ticket owes you nothing. On one ticket, the airline must get you to Hyderabad on the next available flight. That protection is worth a lot.
2. Leave a winter buffer at Pearson
Between November and March, snow and de-icing can slow Pearson down. Pick a connection of at least three hours at your first stop. If you are driving in from Brampton, Mississauga or Scarborough on a snowy day, add an extra hour on the 401 or 410.
3. Fly midweek and avoid the Christmas rush
Tuesday and Wednesday departures are often cheaper than Friday and Saturday. The week before Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026, is one of the busiest of the year on Canada to India routes. Flying out a week earlier, or returning after the first full week of January, usually saves money.
4. Choose your layover with the family in mind
With small children, a short domestic leg at the end is easier than a second long flight. With elderly parents, ask us about wheelchair assistance at every airport, including the Indian domestic connection. A three hour gap at a big hub is about right.
5. Check your documents before you pay
Canadian passport holders need an Indian visa or an OCI card. The e-Visa is applied for online through the official Indian visa website. If you are routing through Europe, check whether your passport needs a transit visa. And read the Government of Canada travel advice at travel.gc.ca before you go.
Arriving in Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport
Hyderabad’s airport is at Shamshabad, roughly 25 to 30 kilometres south of the city centre. It is modern and easy to find your way around. If you connected in Delhi or Mumbai, immigration is already done.
Prepaid taxi counters and app-based cabs are at the arrivals exit, and an airport bus runs to several parts of the city at a low fare. The expressway and Outer Ring Road take you to HITEC City, Gachibowli and Madhapur in around 45 minutes to an hour outside rush hour. If family are picking you up, agree on a meeting point before you fly.
